There will be a FREE training workshop on Wednesday 18th April at QUAKER MEETING HOUSE,  10 ST JAMES STREET.

This workshop would be especially useful for people who have not run an event before and have thought about taking part in Heritage Open Days (HODs).

Sarah and Annie from HODs HQ are leading on these workshops with the provisional agenda (which may be subject to change) as follows:

10:00-10:30 – Arrivals (tea & coffees)

10:30-11:30 – Introduction to HODs

This will be led by Operations Officer Sarah and will cover the following:

  • Background on Heritage Open Days
  • The yearly cycle and key dates
  • Top tips for registering an event
  • An introduction to marketing an event
  • How to get the most out of your local & national HODs team

11:30-12:00 – Q & A with Sarah

12:00-12:30 – Lunch

12:30-14:00 – Programming your event

This session will be led by Annie, who will cover:

  • Some top tips on how to create and organise incredible events
  • The themes for the year and how to create events around them
  • A Q&A, as well as a general discussion to share past successes and lessons learnt

14:00-14:45 – Janet Ridler ( Sheffield General Cemetery) on organising family friendly events and Nick Granger (Enigma escape rooms) on hosting an Escape Room in your venue

14:45-15:00 – Conclusions and time for any final questions/comments
